Building on the success of our hugely popular performance exhaust systems for the previous Corsa D VXR and VXR Nürburgring, we were keen to get our hands on a development vehicle to begin the design process for a new range of sports exhaust systems for the Corsa E VXR.

The new Corsa E VXR has been hotly anticipated and boasts performance stats to rival any of the recently released hot hatches. With a published 0-60mph time of only 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 143mph the Corsa VXR packs more power than ever from its 1.6 litre turbocharged engine. With just over 200bhp and 181lb ft of torque, the sporty 1.6 turbo engine is sure to be a popular choice for those looking for affordable performance.

Our Research and development team set out to create a range of systems looking to create impressive performance gains and to create the vibrant sound that the Cobra Sport systems have become widely known for. To complement the aggressive styling of the Corsa E VXR, our stainless steel exhausts are finished in a choice of 4" tailpipes in a range of slash cut styles including our new ‘Blackout’ ceramic coated option.

Our sports exhaust systems for the Corsa E VXR are now available in a range of configurations to suit your chosen looks and sound. We were keen to create a series of direct fit aftermarket exhaust systems to cater for the many tastes and requirements of the end user. The new systems are manufactured in 3” (76.2mm) T304 stainless steel with mandrel bent pipework and are available in both cat back and full turbo back exhaust configurations. Each of the systems have the option for resonated or non-resonated sections. For those looking at full system and maximum performance gains, a choice of either a high flow sports catalyst or de-cat front section are available to complete the full turbo back system.

Early feedback from the first customers to receive their exhaust system for the Corsa E VXR is proving to be incredibly positive and we are excited to have released the systems for the new Corsa VXR after the success and respect the Cobra Sport brand enjoyed with the previous Corsa VXR models.

  • Ford Focus ST 2.0 TDCi 185PS Performance Exhaust

Focus ST TDCi Cobra Sports ExhaustBuilding on the success of the popular Focus ST 250, Ford have recently released the Focus ST 2.0 TDCi. The first ever diesel powered Focus ST aims to provide a unique mix between everyday usability and performance making the Focus TDCi an excellent option for those looking for a sophisticated blend of driving dynamics, performance and refinement. The 185PS 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engine achieves a 0-62mph time of 8.1 seconds, a combined 67.3 mpg and a CO2 emissions figure of just 110g/km.

Cobra Sport were keen to get the new Focus ST TDCi in for development and have built and exhaust system which improves the styling, reduces the overall weight and offers an improved sound to the usually mild diesel engine. The final development is available as a rear box replacement, which enhanced the TDCI engine sound by only 2 dB at three quarter revs, but allowed a much deeper overall tone. The decision was made to build the system with 3” (76.2mm) stainless steel pipework and has been designed to fit from the centre section backwards completely replacing the rear section. The Venom style pipework is manufactured in aircraft grade 304 stainless steel matched with precision TIG welds and mandrel formed bends to enable the smoothest possible flow of gas. As expected, there was an exceptional weight advantage, with the Cobra Sport exhaust being a massive 54% lighter than the original equipment exhaust.

The completed rear exhaust system is finished with a choice of ST style tailpipes including our popular custom designed hexagonal tailpipes in either highly polished 304 stainless steel or our new Blackout ceramic coated tips which have a smart matt black appearance.

The Venom style pipework has enabled us to make the most of the powerful diesel engine and improve the overall sound of the ST TDCi without interfering with your comfort whilst driving. The tone of the completed exhaust gives a sportier edge to the Diesel Focus, whilst keeping interior noise in check.

  • Autosport International Show 2016 - AmDTuning.com & Cobra Sport unveil new 2016 BTCC car

2016 BTCC Car Audi S3 Shaun HollambyCobra Sport once again enjoyed a strong presence at the 2016 Performance Car Show with an incredibly popular stand in hall 19. The Autosport International Show covers over 1 million sq ft and attracts over 80,000 visitors each year making it the number one show for motorsport in the UK.

At the show we unveiled the new livery for the 2016 AmDTuning.com / Cobra Sport Audi S3 BTCC car on the Cobra Sport Exhaust stand. The 2016 livery pays homage to one of motorsport's most iconic colour schemes and features the AmDTuning.com and Cobra Sport red and black branding combined with Audi’s famous racing stripes from the ’80s IMSA Audi 90 GTO.

Cobra Sport AmDTuning at Autosport Show 2016The car which will compete in the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship was on display on the Cobra Sport Exhausts stand for the whole of the Autosport International Show.

Having fielded the Audi S3 during five events in 2015 (driven by Nicolas Hamilton), the team will embark on its first full season with the car this year. The car has been away to be stripped back to basics, rebuilt and remodelled ready to compete in the 2016 BTCC championship. Hopes are high for a successful campaign, building on the early promise shown by the front-wheel drive machine. To celebrate a full time switch to the Audi after two seasons running the Cobra Sport Exhausts sponsored Ford Focus ST, the team have taken inspiration from one of the German manufacturer's most famous liveries..

“We’re pleased to take the covers off the new look Audi and think the end result will stand out on track during the season ahead,” AmD team boss Shaun Hollamby said. “We were keen to go back to our traditional colours this year and we saw the ideal opportunity to incorporate elements of the IMSA Audi livery to celebrate our first full season with the S3."

“Audi has a huge amount of history and heritage in motorsport and whilst we are an independent team, we are proud to celebrate part of that heritage in the livery we have chosen. The famous Audi stripes go well with our own red and black, and also with the colours of Cobra Sport Exhausts who we are delighted to have on board again this season.”

Cobra Sport Clothing Model at Autosport Show 2016The 2016 Autosport International Show also saw the launch of the brand new Cobra Sport clothing range as worn at the show by our model. The new clothing range includes Cobra Sport branded hoodies, zipped hoodies and softshell jackets along with a choice of polo shirts and t-shirts. The clothing is currently available online and will shortly be stocked at Cobra Sport HQ in Sheffield.

The two trade days proved to be very productive catching up with existing contacts and adding to our network of dealers generating an ever increasing interest in the Cobra Sport brand and the direction we are moving as a company. Over the 2 weekend public days our stand was incredibly busy, both for photographs of the Audi S3 BTCC car but also with enquiries about our extensive range of direct fit performance exhaust applications. Thank you to everyone who visited the stand over the 4 days of the show, we hope to see you again at the other car shows and events that we will be attending throughout the summer months.
