  • Available Now - Ultimate Venom for the Ford Fiesta ST180

Ford_Fiesta_ST180_Venom_Sports_ExhaustCobra Sport have taken their range of exhausts for the Ford Fiesta ST180 to the next level with the release of a Venom style system finished with either a single or twin tailpipes. The new Venom systems remove the back box found in our cat back systems to offer an exhaust system with unrivalled sound and tone. The bore size has been increased to 3” (76.2mm) and the stainless steel pipework runs the full length of the vehicle allowing unrivalled flow rates whilst creating the pitch perfect aggressive sound preferred by many ST180 owners.

The Cobra Sport system Venom system delivers a significant weight saving over standard. Testing of the Venom system resulted in a staggering 21% reduction in weight from the OE system’s 14.42kg, with the Cobra Sport system weighing in at only 11.2kg. The most significant improvement of the Venom system is the incredible sound quality produced by the simplified pipework. The volume of the Venom cat back system which includes a resonated section increases by +8.7db to 89.9db at 4000rpm. Matched with the additional Sports Cat front pipe the sound levels at 4000rpm rise by +15db to 96.2db creating an incredibly vibrant deep sporty exhaust tone.

Matt Thomas, Sales Manager at Cobra Sport says “When we developed our existing range for the ST180 we created a range of systems which allowed for excellent power increases and weight savings. The Fiesta has continued to be an incredibly popular model so we knew that we needed to give our system a further edge. The Venom systems really are the ultimate upgrade giving the car a sound track to match its performance, our Venom systems make a great car even better“.

You can be assured of only the highest quality materials being used in the production of all Cobra Sports exhaust systems with the highest quality grade 304 stainless steel used throughout the components and each exhaust being hand finished and individually TIG welded at our Sheffield factory. The levels of quality achieved enables us to offer a lifetime guarantee on all exhaust systems which provides the ultimate peace of mind for the customer.

  • Available Now - BMW M135i Performance Exhaust Systems

BMW M135i Cobra Sport ExhaustThe BMW M135i has been described as one of the purest, most enjoyable driving BMWs to have been released in a very long time. The M135i boasts a turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine matched with rear wheel drive, making it a very attractive offering with exceptional handling characteristics and acceleration to match. The 3.0 litre engine found in the M135i gives an impressive 0-62mph time of just over 5 seconds. Our development model benchmarked 306bhp and 290 lb ft when tested on the rolling road.

The Cobra Sport research and development team quickly made the decision to base the new performance exhaust systems for the BMW M135i on 3" (76.2mm) T304 stainless steel pipework. This pipework allows the engine to breathe and contributes to our aim for the largest natural performance improvements. Independent testing of the non resonated cat back system revealed impressive gains of +10bhp along with 16 lb ft of torque. The outstanding power results are complemented by a significant weight advantage with the Cobra Sport system weighing only 16.32kg giving a 20% decrease from the OEM weight of 20.38kg.

Cobra Sport Sales Manager Matt Thomas commented "We're very excited about the release of the system for the M135i. The 3.0 litre engine has a fantastic reputation and our R&D team have been able to extract excellent power gains. The pick of the systems is the non resonated cat back exhaust, the sound is incredible with a beautiful pitch and tone. The sound from this system brought a local street to a standstill when out testing so I anticipate it to be a great success".

The new sports exhaust systems are available in a number of configurations to cover the many different needs of M135i owners. The systems are based around a cat back configuration with the option for either a resonated or louder non resonated centre section. These cat back systems can be matched with a choice of front pipe replacement with either a sports cat option to further increase the available power gains along with a de-cat pipe to create the most dynamic sound track.

The BMW M135i has an aggressive stance on the road with wide flared wheel arches matched with a smart but subtle body kit. Cobra Sport are keen to improve the styling over the standard M-sport exhaust to finish off the rear of the M135i with a more aggressive and balanced look by finishing the system with 3.5" (88.9mm) inward rolled baffled highly polished stainless steel tailpipes.

  • First points of the year for AmDTuning at Thruxton

Donington_AmDtuning_OllieJackson_BTCCOllie Jackson in the Cobra Sport sponsored AmDTuning.com Audi S3 secured his first points finish of the year in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship and emerged unscathed from a wild weekend of racing at Thruxton.

A top 20 showing in the opening practice session showed the potential of the Audi package but a fuel supply problem in qualifying would leave Tamworth-based Ollie in 25th place on the grid for the opening race.

Taking the decision to manage tyres on a very hot day at Thruxton, Ollie stayed out of trouble and was progressing well to be in a position to make a push up the field for the final laps of the race.  However, the race was red flagged prematurely with 5 laps to go after a number of high speed tyre failures along with an incident at the final chicane caused by a puncture. The AmDTuning.com Audi with plenty of wear left to get to the end of the race took the chequered flag in 17th place.

DoningtonGrid_AmDtuning_BTCCThe decision to shorten races two and three to twelve laps due to high track temperatures forced the team to make set-up changes to the Audi, with Ollie taking the chequered flag in 21st in the second race of the weekend. Race three however saw Ollie produce his best result of the year to date with a solid run through to 14th place, giving him his first points finish of the campaign and allowing AmDTuning.com to score with the Audi for the first time.

“The final race was a good way to end the weekend and I’m pleased to bring home a first points finish of the season,” he said. “If I’m being honest, I don’t think I got the best out of the car in the opening two races, so to come back and get a result for the team and some points on the board in race three is really good.

Team boss Shaun Hollamby was also pleased with the fact that the team was able to pick up a first points finish of the year, even if the shortening of the final two races race and the earlier red flag prevented Ollie from adding more to his tally.

“It was good to end the day with some points on the board, although it’s a shame that we weren’t able to benefit from the set-up work we’d put in on Saturday,” he said. “We had worked on having a car that was good for 16 laps in hot conditions but other, very experienced, teams chose not to take the advice of Dunlop and the weather forecaster, hence the race length was adjusted to their level of preparedness. When the races were shortened, we then had to look at making changes to go more aggressive on the set-up to make the tyres last for twelve rather than 16 laps.

AmD Team Wear ThruxtonFor the second event this season we had official AmDTuning / Cobra Sport team wear available for sale on the Motorsport Photography Ltd stall.
