  • Available Now - BMW M235i Performance Exhausts

BMW M235i F22 Cobra Sport Exhaust SystemBuilding on the success of previously released systems for the M135i, Cobra Sport are pleased to announce the launch of their exhaust systems for the BMW M235i (F22). Designed and manufactured to uncompromising standard, Cobra Sport have matched performance improvements with re-defined sound to offer an exciting package for M235i owners.

The M235i features a 321bhp turbocharged straight-six engine generating a stunning 332lb-ft of torque. During the development phase we were keen to improve the overall exhaust tone creating a pitch perfect soundtrack. The Cobra Sport research and development team quickly made the decision to create the new performance exhaust systems for the BMW M235i with 3" (76.2mm) T304 stainless steel pipework. Through straightening and careful alignment of the pipework, Cobra Sport have created a system in true 3” diameter pipework with mandrel bends and no indentations as are found in the OE system. Independent power testing of the non resonated cat back system revealed impressive gains of +10bhp along with +16 lb-ft gain in torque. The outstanding power results are complemented by a significant weight advantage with the Cobra Sport system weighing only 16.32kg giving a 20% decrease from the OE system weight of 20.38kg.

Cobra Sport Sales Manager Matt Thomas commented "We're very excited about the release of the system for the M235i having experienced high demand and very positive feedback for our M135i cat back systems and de-cat front pipes. The 3.0 litre engine has a fantastic reputation and the natural power gains found with the cat back system are testament to the hard work and expertise of our research and development team".

The systems for the M235i are have been developed in cat back configuration with the option for either a resonated or louder non resonated centre section. These cat back systems can be matched with a choice of replacement front pipes in the form of either a sports cat or a large bore de-cat pipe to create the most dynamic sound track and performance increases. Matched with the de-cat option, the non resonated cat back system recorded a +20dB increase over standard at 96.2dB during the 4,000rpm static test. In car sound levels are kept to an increase of +8dB recording a maximum of 80dB under full load, matched with clever design and extensive testing the Cobra Sport team have managed to eliminate any chance of resonation within the cabin.

Cobra Sport have improved the styling over the standard exhaust by finishing off the rear of the M235i with a more aggressive and balanced look. The systems feature dual 3.5" (88.9mm) inward rolled baffled highly polished stainless steel tailpipes, specifically designed for the M235i.

  • AmDTuning.com re-signs Ollie Jackson for 2017 BTCC programme

AmDTuning / Cobra Sport BTCC KnockhillThe AmDTuning.com team today confirmed thatit had re-signed driver Ollie Jackson to compete in the 2017 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

Ollie rejoined the Cobra Sport sponsored West Thurrock based team this year - having earlier raced for the team back in 2012. Ollie enjoyed a solid campaign at the wheel of the Audi S3 Saloon this season and finished this season in great form picking up points finishes and running on the back of the top 10 in the final rounds of the championship along with picking up the prestigious Audi Driver International 'Motorsport Personality of the Year' awards.

The new deal with Ollie marks the first time in its history that AmDTuning.com has entered into a second successive season with a driver, providing vital continuity ahead of a busy off-season that will see the Audi S3 undergo extensive work back at base. Having been one of a handful of cars to run older-specification control parts this year, the Audi will be fully updated to run new RML spec parts, with delivery of those parts expected in the coming weeks. The team will then embark on a pre-season testing programme to ensure it is ready to hit the ground running when the new season begins at Brands Hatch in early April.

Ollie Jackson BTCC - Rockingham BTCC 2016“I really enjoyed this season with the team so I’m delighted that we’ve been able to get the deal done early to allow us to start working on 2017,” Ollie said. "I’m really excited about what next year could hold for us, and I have no doubt that this deal gives me the best chance I’ve ever had in the BTCC.

Team boss Shaun Hollamby was also pleased to be able to confirm the new agreement with Ollie for 2017, with the team hopeful of one of its strongest seasons since joining the series back in 2010.

“The continuity of sticking with Ollie is something we felt was key after a strong second half of the year, and it’s great to have the deal done,” he said. "Given the way this season ended at Brands Hatch, we are keen to make sure we hit the ground running when the 2017 campaign comes around and try to build on what we achieved together this year.

"Making the move to the RML kit is something we knew we had to do for next season and those upgrades will soon be carried out before we start testing and the real work begins. Of course it wouldn’t be possible without the support of our sponsors, and we’re thankful that that ongoing support has allowed us to commit the resources required to upgrade the Audi and give us the best chance of success on track.
