  • Available Now - Ford Fiesta ST Mk8 Cat Back (GPF Delete) Performance Exhausts

The Ford Fiesta ST Mk8 is a fantastic hot hatch. The shift from a four-cylinder engine in the beloved Mk7.5 ST to a three-cylinder the Mk8 was met with some uncertainty upon launch. But, when Fiesta fans drove the updated pocket rocket, any doubts they had were quickly quelled. Despite being down on capacity and minus one cylinder, the rev-happy 1.5 EcoBoost engine produces more power than its predecessor whilst at the same time, returning better fuel economy thanks to innovations such as Cylinder Deactivation Technology.

However, more stringent emissions regulations forced Ford to fit a GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) to the Mk8 ST, significantly subduing its exhaust note.

Following on from the success of the GPF Back exhaust system launched in late 2019, Cobra Sport has developed a solution to bring the car to life. They are proud to announce their latest product release for the Mk8 Fiesta ST: a full Cat Back Performance Exhaust system which includes the GPF-Delete section.

This system differentiates itself from the GPF Back variant by including an additional mid section to completely remove the factory-fitted particulate filter. This allows for improved gas-flow, better performance gains and most importantly and a significant improvement in the exhaust tone. A simple ECU reflash will be required at the time of fitting to prevent engine warning lights illuminating.

The bore size of the Cobra Sport exhaust has been increased to 3” (76.2mm), which is unique in the market providing the greatest upgrade in terms of performance, flow rate and sound levels.

The performance exhaust system is made from 3"/76.2mm mandrel-bent T304 stainless steel pipework and comprises of a GPF-delete, mid section and a valved back box which maintains the OEM valve functionality. In addition to this, buyers have the choice of three stylish slash-cut 3.5"/88.9mm tailpipe finishes including Highly Polished Steel, Black Ceramic-Coated (+80) and Carbon Fibre (+140).

Like all Cobra Sport exhausts, this system utilises precision TIG-welding techniques for exemplary fit and finish – a feature that sets Cobra Sport apart from other manufacturers. With over 25 years in the performance exhaust industry, each Cobra Sport exhaust system is designed, manufactured and tested in Sheffield, the heart of the UK steel industry. Cobra Sport utilise TIG-welding techniques to ensure a flawless finish and quality that you can rely on.

  • Available Now - Ford Mustang GT 5.0 Facelift V8 2018> Valved Performance Exhausts

Ever since the right-hand drive Mustang GT was launched, the 5.0 V8 has become a firm favourite with UK petrol heads. Aggressive muscle car looks, matched with a lively rear-wheel drive chassis and that thundering V8 make for an exciting machine.

Cobra Sport was quick to spot the potential of the 5.0 V8 and developed a performance exhaust system for the original model. But they didn’t rest there. Over the last few months they’ve been busy working on a valved system that fully integrates with the Ford drive modes on facelift 2018+ vehicles. The end result is a beautifully made system that offers the best of both worlds.

This innovative setup utilises both valves, something no other exhaust manufacturer has so far been able to achieve. It means Mustang owners can now take advantage of a thundering sound when they want it (especially in Sport+ mode), but at the flick of a dial, lower the volume for cruising.

Like all Cobra Sport exhausts, the Mustang GT valved system is TIG-welded from high-quality T304 stainless steel. The mandrel-bent pipework is a full 3in (76.2mm) in diameter, which is larger than any competitor systems, to ensure maximum gas flow.

The centre silencer is replaced with a much freer-flowing 3in H-pipe with link pipes and pipework to the rear silencers and there’s a choice of 4in (101.6mm) tailpipes, including inward rolled and inverted slash-cut in highly polished finish, ceramic-coated Blackout or carbon fibre (both cost options).

The stock catalysts and GPF remain in place so there are no issues with emissions come MoT time. This is a direct replacement for the stock system, with the impeccable fit and finish you’d expect from one of the UK’s leading performance exhaust specialists.

  • COMING SOON - Ford Focus ST Mk4 Performance Exhausts

With its predecessors selling in the thousands, the Mk4 Focus ST has some big boots to fill. And with the petrol variant sporting a Mk3 Focus RS-derived 2.3 EcoBoost engine boasting 276hp and 310lb ft of torque, it certainly fills those boots in the numbers department.

Continuing where the previous generation ST left off, this latest iteration is available in five-door hatchback and estate body styles, both of which are either available with the aforementioned 2.3 EcoBoost petrol engine or a more modest 2.0 EcoBlue Diesel, for those who favour economy over outright speed, of which both variants still offer plenty.

An optional Performance Pack is available which adds a Track mode, launch control and an automatic rev-matching function to the ST's already prolific performance credentials.

To add to this, an Electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD) is present, which helps to put the power down in the corners.

If you own a Mk4 Focus ST and are interested in having a Cobra Sport system on your car, please get in touch with our sales team on 0114 244 7123.

We will be launching a full range of configurations in the coming months, including GPF-Back, Cat Back and downpipe performance exhaust upgrades.

  • COMING SOON - VW Polo MK6 (AW) GTI 2.0 TSI Performance Exhausts

The latest variant of VW's Polo GTI was launched in 2018, based on the latest Mk6 (AW) shape Polo. It sports the same basic engine as VW's own Golf GTI, an EA888 2.0 TSI, albeit in a different state of tune, boasting 197hp and 236lb ft. These punchy figures bring the Polo's 0-62MPH time down to 6.7 seconds (when equipped with the optional Performance Package), a mere 0.2 seconds off of it's Golf stable mate's, at 6.5 seconds.

As was the way with the 6R shape Polo GTI that preceded it by two generations, the new model is once again available exclusively with VW's excellent DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This is no bad thing however, as the gearshifts are cut down to mere fractions of a second, and fuel economy is boosted to over 40MPG, an astonishing figure for a vehicle with such performance credentials. A manual variant is however expected in the coming months, should that be your preference.

In a road test with automotive magazine 'AutoCar', journalists noted how the Polo GTI's standard exhaust note is 'uniformly flat, muted and slightly nasally' and the 'report from its twin-tip exhaust does nothing to encourage you, the driver, to hold onto gears'. Sheffield-based Performance Exhaust manufacturer: Cobra Sport is aiming to rectify this in the form of a range of all new stainless steel exhaust products for the upmarket hot hatch. Cobra is in the development stage of creating all new GPF-Back, Cat-Back, and even Turbo-Back Performance Exhaust systems, which comprise of a Cat-back system mated to a De-Cat or Sports Cat downpipe.

If you currently own a VW Polo Mk6 (AW) GTI 2.0 TSI and are interested in having a Cobra Sport system fitted to your car, please contact our sales team on 0114 244 7123.

Cobra Sport attended the first major event on the car and motorsport show calendar, with a large stand in the Performance & Tuning Car Show section of the prestigious Autosport International 2020 show at the NEC in Birmingham. The show itself covers over 1 million sq ft and attracts over 80,000 visitors each year making it the number one show for motorsport in the UK.

The stand, located in Hall 4, showcased one of the Cobra Sport AmD Racing Honda Civic FK2 British Touring Cars having been completely rebuilt after the success of winning the 2019 Independent Teams and Driver Championships. The car proved extremely popular with visitors, many of whom captured pictures to share on social media. Recently announced drivers Jake Hill and Sam Osborne spent a lot of time on the Cobra Sport stand amongst our staff, socialising with traders, sponsors and visitors alike.

The pair of Honda Civics are set to compete in the 2020 BTCC campaign, with Hill and Osborne at the wheel looking to defend the Independent Teams Championship. Hill's confidence in his car and his team was evident when he said "I have worked alongside the team previously and I have seen first-hand how competitive the FK2 can be: it is the most successful front-wheel-drive car in NGTC history in terms of race wins.”

The Autosport show also gave us a chance to exhibit some of the newest products in our vast performance exhaust range, amongst which was our new remote valved F56 Mini cat back exhaust and latest application of the our popular M4 inspired quad exit exhaust conversion for the 4-series diesel BMWs. Also on display were a selection of our best sellers including a Ford Focus RS Resonated ‘Venom’ exhaust and a unique 4-1 UEL De-Cat Manifold for the Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ. The products on display demonstrated the superior quality of our TIG welding manufacturing techniques and inspired many visitors to place enquiries for our direct fit performance exhaust products and learn more about our worldwide network of distributors and tuning partners.

As ever, the two trade days proved to be invaluable for us, catching up with existing contacts and adding to our network of dealers. The show generated an ever-increasing interest in the Cobra Sport brand and allowed us to discuss in person the direction in which we are moving as a company. The public event on the Saturday and Sunday was hugely popular with the stand being incredibly busy all weekend. We would like to extent a huge thank you to everybody who came to visit our stand over the 4 days of the show and we look forward to seeing you again at many shows to come this year including JapFest, TRAX, Ford Fair and more.

The February 2020 edition of Fast Car magazine features Cobra Sport's Vauxhall Corsa E VXR Venom system being awarded 'Best Exhaust' in the 2019 'Fast Car Product Awards'.

The simplified pipework of the Venom system which removes the usual rear box has been designed to create an unrivalled deep sporty sound which will set the Corsa E VXR ahead of the crowd. Sound testing of the finished Venom cat back exhaust system recorded an impressive 89.8dB (+11dB) on the sound meter during the 4000rpm circuit test with a sound track which becomes highly aggressive under load.

In Fast Car's own words: "This new Venom stainless steel exhaust from Cobra is absolutely chuffing bonkers, and what with the E-shape VXR being one of THE hot hatches of the moment, we reckon these will simply fly out of the door."

Fast Car magazine is available monthly from many major retail outlets.
