  • Available Now - Audi R8 4.2 V8 Gen 1 Performance Exhausts

Regarded as a modern classic by many, the first generation Audi R8 V8 marked a new era for well-built, easy to live with, mid-engined supercars. Despite being launched in 2006, the R8 has stood the test of time and still looks and feels as fresh today as it did at launch.

In standard form, the R8's exhaust has an excellent tone, generated by its high-revving Cosworth-derived 4.2 V8. That being said, the factory exhaust is very restrictive, making for a somewhat muted and disappointing final article. Not what you would expect from a car with such performance credentials.

Sheffield-based performance exhaust manufacturer, Cobra Sport, have developed a solution for this in the form of their recently launched Cat-Back exhaust system designed specifically for the first generation V8 model. This new exhaust is precision TIG-welded from T304 stainless steel and is fitted with valves that integrate with the vehicles factory configurations. The valves open and close depending on the vehicle's RPM, so it stays subdued at idle but unleashes the full fury of its thunderous V8 soundtrack when revved to its 8500RPM redline. On average, throughout the rev range, Cobra Sport's system is 12db louder than stock with zero motorway drone, making for a significant improvement without ruining the excellent drivability that the R8 is famed for. A noticeable improvement in power distribution higher up the rev range was experienced during testing, thanks to the free flowing performance exhaust setup. The Cobra Sport setup offers a 12kg (30%) weight saving over standard further enhancing the vehicle dynamics.

Cobra Sport's system is designed to fit in conjunction with the R8's standard tailpipes, but optional Carbon Fibre tips in O/E twin style are available should that be to the owner's taste. These tips really finish off the rear end of the supercar, and look particularly superb on vehicle's fitted with Audi's optional Carbon Fibre Side Blade.

With over 25 years in the performance exhaust industry, each Cobra Sport exhaust system is designed, manufactured and tested in Sheffield, the heart of the UK steel industry. Cobra Sport utilise TIG-welding techniques to ensure a flawless finish and quality that you can rely on.

  • Remote-controlled Valved Cat-Back Exhausts for MINI Cooper S/JCW F56/F56 LCI

The latest offering from performance exhaust specialists, Cobra Sport, is this remote-controlled valved cat-back system for the sporty MINI Cooper S and JCW.

With proven gains in power and torque, it’s the perfect addition to any MINI F56 – with the added bonus that the sound can be modulated from within the vehicle.

A new remote-controlled setup allows the driver to open the valve via the supplied key fob for a thrilling, aggressive sound on the open road, or to close it when cruising. With the valve open the sound is amplified with a deeper tone and more audible pops and bangs. On a 4,000 rpm track test, with the valve open, it measured 92.4dB (+13%) and 88.1dB (+8.5%) when closed.

Manufactured from high-quality T304 stainless steel and TIG-welded utilising 3in (76.2mm) mandrel-bent pipework, this cat-back system has been designed to deliver optimum gas flow – unleashing the potential of the Cooper S and JCW. Choose from either resonated or louder
non-resonated format, with ceramic coated black and carbon fibre tips available as an option.

For those looking to take things further, the system may be ordered together with the new Cobra Sport high-flow sports cat or de-cat pipe (track use only). With further software and hardware upgrades, this full turbo-back system paves the way for significant power and torque gains.

  • AVAILABLE NOW - VW GOLF R MK7.5 PERFORMANCE EXHAUSTS

The VW Golf R Mk7.5 follows on from the success of it's predecessor: the Mk7 R. VW have gone to great lengths to make sure that the updated version of their four-wheel drive mega-hatch is improved in every conceivable way seemingly bar one: the introduction of a GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) in the vehicle's exhaust system. The addition of the GPF allows the newest Golf R to conform to the latest European Emissions Standards but as a trade off, it dilutes the vehicle's aural qualities, making for a performance car that doesn't quite have the bark to match it's bite.

Cobra Sport in Sheffield have developed a solution for this in the form of their new GPF-Back Performance Exhaust System. Precision TIG-welded from T304 stainless steel, this new system is available with or without integrated valves. The valves are specially developed to integrate with the factory Driving Modes and open or close depending on the mode selected, so you can keep sound levels to a minimum or unleash the engine's full potential, depending on your mood. In addition to this, vehicles fitted with the optional DSG gearbox will emit an enhanced sporty tone on upshifts. The GPF-Back system, as the name suggests, retains the factory Gasoline Particulate Filter, but still manages to effectively enhance the exhaust note of the vehicle's EA888 2.0 TSI engine.

A range of 4"/101.6mm round and 4.5"/114.3 oval tailpipes options are available, including highly polished stainless steel tips and Ceramic-coated Blackout tips (optional extra) which really set the rear of the car apart from a standard Golf R.

Like all Cobra Sport exhausts, this system utilises precision TIG-welding techniques for exemplary fit and finish – a feature that gives Cobra Sport an advantage over other manufacturers. With over 25 years in the performance exhaust industry, each Cobra Sport exhaust system is designed, manufactured and tested in Sheffield, the heart of the UK steel industry.
