  • Performance Vauxhall Show 2016 at Santa Pod

PVS Show LogoFor our second show of the year we headed to the Santa Pod Raceway in Northamptonshire for the Performance Vauxhall Show. The show featured non-stop Vauxhall action throughout the day including runs on the legendary Santa Pod drag strip along with thousands of the UK's best Vauxhall vehicles on display.

On our stand we were incredibly excited to have on display our brand new Venom exhaust system for the Vauxhall Astra J VXR. Since the preview at the show, this product has now been launched online and is sure to be a big hit with Astra J VXR owners looking for the ultimate sports exhaust system. The new Venom system drew large crowds when the sound demonstrations were taking place, the pitch perfect tone of the Venom system is best heard in person to really appreciate the quality of the Venom exhaust upgrade.

We were also pleased to have the Vauxhall Corsa E VXR on display fitted with a full non resonated Cobra Sport turbo back exhaust system with a de-cat front pipe. The Corsa E VXR is a vehicle which is growing in popularity over the past few months and also drew many admiring fans through the show. The third car on the stand was an Astra H VXR which continues to be a very popular system with our buyers and dealers. The VXR had a full Cobra Sport turbo back exhaust fitted with first and second de-cat front pipes.

Our stand was incredibly busy throughout that day and our new clothing range proved to be popular. Cobra Sport hoodies, polo shirts and t-shirts will be available to purchase at all of our car shows this summer along with at BTCC races and also directly from our website.

  • Japfest 2016 at Silverstone

Japfest 2016 LogoCobra Sport kicked off the summer show season with our attendance at the 2016 Japfest Show held for the first time at the new show venue of Silverstone Race Circuit. The Japfest show made the move to Silverstone having previously been held at the Castle Combe Circuit and the new location enabled the show to spread out and become the biggest Japanese Performance show in the Europe.

Japfest has secured its place as the Europe's largest Japanese car show. The event boast a display of over 3500 Japanese cars from the many car clubs along with competitive drifting and high speed track action.  We were at the show with the Cobra Sport events trailer which will be in attendance at many car shows over the summer months. The attendance at Japfest was incredible and the retail arena was packed for most of the day despite the chilly early spring weather.

On our stand we were proud to have on display the new Honda Civic Type R (FK2) fitted with our new 3" cat back performance exhaust system alongside the stunning Nissan 370Z fitted with a full cat back exhaust and centre 'y' section.  The two cars along with our range of exhaust display stands and clothing range created a buzz on the stand attracting large crowds throughout the day.

  • Autosport International Show 2016 - AmDTuning.com & Cobra Sport unveil new 2016 BTCC car

2016 BTCC Car Audi S3 Shaun HollambyCobra Sport once again enjoyed a strong presence at the 2016 Performance Car Show with an incredibly popular stand in hall 19. The Autosport International Show covers over 1 million sq ft and attracts over 80,000 visitors each year making it the number one show for motorsport in the UK.

At the show we unveiled the new livery for the 2016 AmDTuning.com / Cobra Sport Audi S3 BTCC car on the Cobra Sport Exhaust stand. The 2016 livery pays homage to one of motorsport's most iconic colour schemes and features the AmDTuning.com and Cobra Sport red and black branding combined with Audi’s famous racing stripes from the ’80s IMSA Audi 90 GTO.

Cobra Sport AmDTuning at Autosport Show 2016The car which will compete in the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship was on display on the Cobra Sport Exhausts stand for the whole of the Autosport International Show.

Having fielded the Audi S3 during five events in 2015 (driven by Nicolas Hamilton), the team will embark on its first full season with the car this year. The car has been away to be stripped back to basics, rebuilt and remodelled ready to compete in the 2016 BTCC championship. Hopes are high for a successful campaign, building on the early promise shown by the front-wheel drive machine. To celebrate a full time switch to the Audi after two seasons running the Cobra Sport Exhausts sponsored Ford Focus ST, the team have taken inspiration from one of the German manufacturer's most famous liveries..

“We’re pleased to take the covers off the new look Audi and think the end result will stand out on track during the season ahead,” AmD team boss Shaun Hollamby said. “We were keen to go back to our traditional colours this year and we saw the ideal opportunity to incorporate elements of the IMSA Audi livery to celebrate our first full season with the S3."

“Audi has a huge amount of history and heritage in motorsport and whilst we are an independent team, we are proud to celebrate part of that heritage in the livery we have chosen. The famous Audi stripes go well with our own red and black, and also with the colours of Cobra Sport Exhausts who we are delighted to have on board again this season.”

Cobra Sport Clothing Model at Autosport Show 2016The 2016 Autosport International Show also saw the launch of the brand new Cobra Sport clothing range as worn at the show by our model. The new clothing range includes Cobra Sport branded hoodies, zipped hoodies and softshell jackets along with a choice of polo shirts and t-shirts. The clothing is currently available online and will shortly be stocked at Cobra Sport HQ in Sheffield.

The two trade days proved to be very productive catching up with existing contacts and adding to our network of dealers generating an ever increasing interest in the Cobra Sport brand and the direction we are moving as a company. Over the 2 weekend public days our stand was incredibly busy, both for photographs of the Audi S3 BTCC car but also with enquiries about our extensive range of direct fit performance exhaust applications. Thank you to everyone who visited the stand over the 4 days of the show, we hope to see you again at the other car shows and events that we will be attending throughout the summer months.

The quarter-mile Sprint track, saw plenty of action with top times recorded by Paul Jordan’s 4WD Scirocco (10.2) and Audrius Bagdanavicius’s Audi S2 with 10.00. Also attracting plenty of interest (and amazement) was a 200 bhp 4WD VW Passat V6-powered fully road-legal shed, which clocked over 70 mph on the drag strip!

Over 40 clubs put on displays and there was also a wide range of trade stands, cars for sale, autojumble, a funfair and children’s amusements, while overnight camping on site was very popular despite a raging thunderstorm on Friday night!

2015 also saw the return of the Monster truck, and evening entertainment included a Friday pre-show organised by Comrades of VAG, while Saturday night saw a DJ and live band - The UB40 Experience.
