Craig Lomax and his XtremeRX team headed to Wales and the Welsh home of Motorsport Pembrey Circuit.

Round 6 was the first time that a British round was run in a similar style to a World Rallycross event where qualifying sessions and finals are held over two days. For the first two qualifying sessions the weather was hot and sunny and as a result extremely dusty, however this didn't deter the Cobra Exhaust backed driver as he guided his distinctive C2 Super 1600 to top of class and second in Supernational

Day two saw the weather turn in Lomax's favour. After heavy overnight rain and the forecast of continuing showers Lomax knew that the advantage the more powerful Supernational cars usually enjoy would count for little. A second and fourth in Q3 and Q4 respectively ensured second place overall and a front row start for the final. However just two laps in and sitting in third place, disaster struck forcing him to pull over with gearbox failure.

Despite the disappointment he secured valuable championship points. In the Super1600 Championship he leads by 30 points once dropped scores have been considered. As the championship heads into its climax there is 60 points on offer. The championship is likely to go down to the wire a challenge that Lomax relishes. Lomax also finds himself in second place in the Supernational championship as well.

The championship will conclude over the weekend of 26th and 27th October for a double header at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire. Track action gets underway at 09:30

Craig Lomax, #24:

"It was challenging to race a slightly different format, mainly because of the range of different weather. We had tweaked the car settings and were showing some real consistent speed over both days, to be denied in the final is very frustrating, but we are more than in with a shout still. So we will go to Croft looking to seal the championship."
