1974

Ascar Exhausts and Tyres Ltd was founded and operated from multiple sites throughout Yorkshire in the 70’s & 80’s.

1979

Ascar Exhausts and Tyres Ltd competed in the Formula Ford and the Formula 2000 championships throughout the 70’s and 80’s with a successful team.

1992

Pete Jarvis left school and joined the family business, Ascar Exhausts & Tyres Ltd as a tyre fitter.

1994

Faced with the recession, Pete created the Cobra Sport exhaust brand which then enabled struggling Ascar Exhausts Ltd to prosper.

2000

The Cobra Sport brand was promoted at events such as the Max Power Live show and many other national car shows.

2003

A ring road development in Sheffield resulted in Ascar Exhausts Ltd closing due to a Compulsory Purchase Order and the business closed.

2004

Brother and sister team Pete & Rachel raised the finance to invest into a new company and Exhausts UK Ltd was established.

2004

Cobra Sport trademark was registered due to the increase in popularity.

2004

Exhausts UK Ltd/Cobra Sport became a “Max Power Preferred Partner”. This led to many marketing opportunities in the modified car scene.

2005

Further development of production processes and investment into the workshop at Sheffield were undertaken.

2006

Exhausts UK/Cobra Sport was selected to appear on the MTV Pimp My Ride UK series.

2007

Launch of the first Cobra Sport e-commerce retail website.

2008

Cobra Sport won a contract with Subaru UK and Isuzu UK to produce range of stainless-steel dealer parts.

2008

The company worked with the Manufacturing Advisory Service to further improve production facilities.

2011

Cobra Sport was re-branded, and a new website launched.

2013

Cobra Sport gears up to exporting products worldwide and is awarded with the “Made in Sheffield” mark.

2014

Rachel became a Freeman of the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire and shortly after joined the Freemen’s committee.

2015

Cobra Sport sponsors the AmD Tuning Ford Focus in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

2016

Exhausts UK (now trading as Cobra Sport) opens brand new R&D department.

2016

Cobra Sport becomes technical partner to AmD Tuning in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

2016

Cobra Sport joins the Performance Automotive Aftermarket Association.

2017

Cobra Sport becomes main sponsor of AmDTuning’s two Audi S3’s in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, creating the 'AmDTuning with Cobra Exhausts' BTCC Team.

2017

Pete Jarvis became a Freeman of the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire, and Rachel is appointed Chair of the Freemen’s Committee.

2018

Cobra Sport take a more active role in the 'AmDTuning with Cobra Exhausts' BTCC Team running many of the corporate, hospitality and marketing activities for the team.

2019

Cobra Sport jointly purchase two Honda Civic Type-R BTCC cars with AmD Tuning to run in the 2019 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship. The team became 'Cobra Sport/AmD with AutoAid/RCIB Insurance Racing' and sign two experienced drivers in Sam Tordoff and Rory Butcher.

2019

Rachel Abbott shortlisted for Business Person of the Year in Sheffield Business Awards.

2019

Cobra Sport/AmD with AutoAid/RCIB Insurance Racing team win three titles in the 2019 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship and come third in the overall championship.

2021

Cobra Sport embarks on a new venture diversifying into the motorcycle sports exhaust market.

2022

Rachel Abbott is awarded the British Chamber of Commerce: Regional Game Changing Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Yorkshire and Humber region.

2022

Cobra Sport invest in second site with new purpose built headquarters and state of the art research and development facility in Sheffield.

2024

Further expansion of the Cobra Sport group planned…
