    BMW M2 F87 Cobra Sport Performance ExhaustDelivering an even harder performance edge to BMW's brilliant F87 M2 is the new valved 3” (76.2mm) Cobra Sport performance exhaust.

    Both Cobra Sport's Technical and R&D teams were involved in the planning and preparation that went into the product testing and development of this new exhaust system to ensure the correct balance between sound, aesthetics and power improvements.

    The new Cobra Sport Exhausts for the M2 are based on 3” (76.2mm) diameter pipework for improved gas flow and to open up opportunities for performance tuning. The T304 stainless steel pipework is CNC mandrel bent and benefits from advanced manufacturing techniques and superior TIG welding procedures to produce a superlative finish.

    By including the exhaust valve, the new Cobra Sport performance exhaust systems offer the best of both worlds continuing to utilise the built in BMW drive modes. With the valve closed the gasses are directed through the entirety of the optimised rear silencer ensuring a subtle but sporty exhaust tone suitable for everyday driving.

    BMW M2 TIG Welded Cobra ExhaustIn sport mode the valve opens allowing gasses to flow through and exit both outlets of the silencer increasing flow rates and sound levels. The result in sport mode is a much deeper exhaust tone than standard which becomes highly aggressive when under full load with a trademark crackle on overrun, completely overhauling the driving experience.

    The design of the back box was tweaked a number of times to ensure there was no resonance or exhaust drone with each layout being extensively road tested to find the optimal design. During the same process the exhaust sound was optimised with the final system adding a subtle +4dB on the track test whilst completely overhauling the tone upgrading the car to a truly stunning sound track.

By incorporating the valve, we have been able to cater for both however having heard the exhaust in Sport+ mode that’s the mode we expect it to stay in permanently! Matched with the Cobra Sport Sports Catalyst or De-Cat downpipe to create a full turbo back exhaust upgrade, huge power increases are possible with a re-map at one of our tuning partners”.

    The Cobra Sport’s quad exit exhaust system benefits from a choice of twin slashcut and angled 88.9mm tailpipes finished in either original highly polished stainless steel or upgraded to our Carbon Fibre tailpipe option.

    Mini Cooper S F56 LCI Cobra ExhaustsCobra Sport have expanded on their range of Mini performance exhausts having completed development on the facelift Mini Cooper S F56 LCI.

    Keen to build on an existing first class reputation in the performance Mini tuning scene, Cobra Sport have launched a unique 3” (76.2mm) bore GPF-Back exhaust system for the new F56 LCI model matching an enhanced driving experience with a dynamically improved sound track.

    he Cobra Sport research and development team quickly made the decision to base the new performance exhaust systems on 3” (76.2mm) T304 stainless steel pipework. Initially available in GPF-Back exhaust configuration, full cat-back and de-cat/sports cat turbo back exhaust upgrades have been prepared in preparation for suitable GPF delete ECU remap software to become available at our tuning partners.

    Mini Cooper S F56 LCI GPF Back ExhaustDuring the 4,000 rpm static test the GPF back exhaust system increased sound levels to 91.6dB on the static 4,000rpm track test. The Cobra Sport systems also offer an impressive weight saving over the standard system weighing in at only 14.39kg.

    The F56 LCI has an aggressive stance on the road. Cobra Sport have managed to improve the looks, finishing off the rear of the Mini with a more aggressive and balanced look. A choice of highly polished stainless steel tailpipes are available including 3.5” (88.9mm) inward rolled baffled and inverted tips.     BMW M4 Cobra Sport ExhaustsIn line with Cobra Sport’s objective to continually expand their range of TIG welded stainless steel performance exhausts, the latest vehicle to pass through the development programme is the stunning BMW M4 Coupé. Keen to make a step above and differentiate from the competition, Cobra Sport have used their extensive experience and use of new exhaust technology to create a product which truly stands out in the aftermarket performance market.

    The Cobra Sport research and development team quickly made the decision to base the new M4 exhaust systems on 3” (76.2mm) T304 grade stainless steel pipework. The larger diameter 3” pipework enhances the capabilities of the 3.0 litre twin turbo V6 engine and utilising advanced gas flow design,  allows for substantial performance improvements.

    The M4 development has been based around a valved cat back exhaust with the addition of a secondary de-cat (catalyst bypass) exhaust upgrade. The cat back exhaust includes a centre H-Pipe section, designed to mix and perfectly balance gas flow from both sides of the engine to increase power, improve flow efficiency and enhance the exhaust tone.

    Extensive road testing was undertaken in order to ensure there was no resonance or exhaust drone in the cabin throughout the rev range in all drive modes. The sound of the new Cobra Sport exhaust boast vastly improved tonal characteristics, with the new exhaust offering a deeper more aggressive sound when under full load.

    The Cobra Sport exhaust incorporates a pair of exhaust valves designed to utilise the existing valve motors , enabling continued use of the M4 drive modes to adjust the dynamic of the exhaust. In the comfort driving mode the valves remain shut forcing the gas flow through the flow optimised rear box, creating a finely tuned exhaust note for a sporty but unobtrusive sound track for everyday use. With the valves open in Sport and Sport+ mode, the gas flows through all 4 tips creating a highly aggressive sound track.

  • Available Now - Mk8 Ford Fiesta ST 1.5 200PS Performance Exhausts

    The Cobra Sport development team took delivery of the Mk8 Fiesta ST soon after its UK release keen to begin development on an exciting new range of Performance Exhaust upgrades. We teamed up with our distributor Auto Specialists for this development and utilised their new demo Fiesta ST which already had the newAirtec induction kit fitted.

    The Mk8 Fiesta ST is fitted with a brand new 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost engine putting out 197bhp capable of a quick 0-62 time of 6.5 seconds. The new exhaust systems will be initially available in Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) Back configuration and includes the motorised exhaust valve.

    Ford Fiesta ST Mk8 Cobra Sport Performance ExhaustThe bore size of the Cobra Sport exhaust range has been increased to 3” (76.2mm), which is unique in the market providing the greatest upgrade in terms of performance, flow rate and sound levels.

    In order to keep the use of the drive select modes, the Cobra Sport exhaust range has been designed with the inclusion of the active valve to help regulate exhaust tone at low speeds and keep the tone differences between drive modes.

    Matt Thomas, Sales Manager at Cobra Sport says “The new 1.5 Litre EcoBoost engine is unknown in the market so we were keen to immediately improve the sound produced by the 3 cylinder engine. Our development team worked hard to ensure the 3” pipework was a perfect fit as we felt Fiesta owners would be looking to upgrade to a full 3” performance exhaust once the tuning capabilities of the engine are explored further by our extensive dealer network. Templates and preliminary drawings have been produced to enable us to create the full turbo back (with de-cat/sports cat downpipes) and GPF delete exhaust options once the tuning software becomes available in the coming months“.

    Mk8 Fiesta EcoBoost ST-Line ExhaustCobra Sport have catered for all sound tastes and tuning requirements for the Mk8 by creating a range of exhaust systems to fit from the Catalytic Converter backwards along with the option to upgrade the turbo downpipe to either a de-cat or high flow sports catalyst downpipe. The cat backs are available with a resonated or non resonated section allowing those looking for some extra drama to opt for louder non resonated exhaust and those seeking a more subtle enhancement to go with the resonated option. The stand OE exhaust system recorded 74.9dB on the static 4,000rpm track test, the resonated Cobra Sport exhaust option increased sound levels by +8% to record 81.5dB. The non resonated cat back option goes a stage further producing a much sportier dynamic sound track when under full acceleration.

    We were keen to complete our exhaust range for the Subaru Impreza having built up an unrivalled reputation for manufacturing quality and performance with Subaru tuners within the UK and Worldwide. When the FE400 final edition model was announced we quickly sourced a vehicle to develop a group of exhaust systems to complete our expansive Subaru exhaust range which are now available in a number of configurations to cover all buyer needs and requirements.

     

    Improving and unleashing the trademark Subaru boxer engine sounds was high on the priority list during development along with improving the gas flows. The decision was made to base our development for the final Subaru WRX STI on large bore 3"/76.2mm pipework (a significant increase over standard) for increased gas flow opening up the opportunities for power gains for our worldwide tuning partners.

    Weight saving was also high on the priority list and we were able to save 4kg (15%) on the overall system weight for the non resonated turbo back exhaust with sports cat even with the much larger bore size of the Cobra Sport exhaust.

    The new Cobra Sport performance exhaust systems for the Subaru WRX STI offer the best of both worlds producing a deeper exhaust tone than standard which becomes highly aggressive and communicative when under full load completely overhauling the driving experience.
