  • Available Now - BMW M235i Performance Exhausts

BMW M235i F22 Cobra Sport Exhaust SystemBuilding on the success of previously released systems for the M135i, Cobra Sport are pleased to announce the launch of their exhaust systems for the BMW M235i (F22). Designed and manufactured to uncompromising standard, Cobra Sport have matched performance improvements with re-defined sound to offer an exciting package for M235i owners.

The M235i features a 321bhp turbocharged straight-six engine generating a stunning 332lb-ft of torque. During the development phase we were keen to improve the overall exhaust tone creating a pitch perfect soundtrack. The Cobra Sport research and development team quickly made the decision to create the new performance exhaust systems for the BMW M235i with 3" (76.2mm) T304 stainless steel pipework. Through straightening and careful alignment of the pipework, Cobra Sport have created a system in true 3” diameter pipework with mandrel bends and no indentations as are found in the OE system. Independent power testing of the non resonated cat back system revealed impressive gains of +10bhp along with +16 lb-ft gain in torque. The outstanding power results are complemented by a significant weight advantage with the Cobra Sport system weighing only 16.32kg giving a 20% decrease from the OE system weight of 20.38kg.

Cobra Sport Sales Manager Matt Thomas commented "We're very excited about the release of the system for the M235i having experienced high demand and very positive feedback for our M135i cat back systems and de-cat front pipes. The 3.0 litre engine has a fantastic reputation and the natural power gains found with the cat back system are testament to the hard work and expertise of our research and development team".

The systems for the M235i are have been developed in cat back configuration with the option for either a resonated or louder non resonated centre section. These cat back systems can be matched with a choice of replacement front pipes in the form of either a sports cat or a large bore de-cat pipe to create the most dynamic sound track and performance increases. Matched with the de-cat option, the non resonated cat back system recorded a +20dB increase over standard at 96.2dB during the 4,000rpm static test. In car sound levels are kept to an increase of +8dB recording a maximum of 80dB under full load, matched with clever design and extensive testing the Cobra Sport team have managed to eliminate any chance of resonation within the cabin.

Cobra Sport have improved the styling over the standard exhaust by finishing off the rear of the M235i with a more aggressive and balanced look. The systems feature dual 3.5" (88.9mm) inward rolled baffled highly polished stainless steel tailpipes, specifically designed for the M235i.

  • Available now - Vauxhall Corsa E 1.0 Turbo Sport Exhausts

Vauxhall Corsa E 1.0 Turbo Cobra Sport ExhaustCobra Sport are pleased to announce the launch of their latest edition to an extensive Vauxhall range with the completed development for the stylish and affordable Vauxhall Corsa E 1.0 Turbo. The Cobra Sport research and development team quickly made the decision to base the new performance exhaust systems on 2.5" (63.5mm) T304 stainless steel mandrel bent pipework. The system has been designed to run directly from the flange of the catalyst section running the full length of the vehicle finishing in a choice of tailpipe options. The new systems for the Corsa E 1.0 Turbo are based around a cat back configuration with the option for either a resonated cat back or louder Venom exhaust system. Sound testing revealed the two systems to have similar decibel reading for the external tests recording 96db and 97db on the static 4,000 rpm test. However, the resonated centre significantly reduced the interior cabin decibel reading recording 4.6db less at 79db than the Venom equivalent when cruising at motorway speeds. The outstanding improvements in sound quality are complemented by a significant weight advantage with the Cobra Sport system with increased bore size weighing only 11.86kg giving a 16% decrease from the OEM weight of 14.12kg. Cobra Sport Sales Manager Matt Thomas commented "We're very excited about the release of the system for the sporty 1 litre turbo edition of the Corsa E having had previously success with the Corsa E VXR and 1.4 Turbo edition. The pick of the systems for me is the resonated cat back exhaust which has been designed to improve the sound with an increase in volume whilst still having a perfectly balanced pitch and tone. The resonated section removes any drone from the vehicle interior at cruising speeds meaning you can have the best of both worlds with a dramatically improved exhaust sound whilst keeping this subtle enough for every day use of the vehicle". Cobra Sport have managed to improve the styling of the already sporty Corsa by finishing the exhaust systems with a choice of bold highly polished stainless steel tailpipe options including 3.5” and 4” inward rolled baffled tips, a 3.5” outward rolled tip and a statement 4.5” x 3.5” oval slash cut tailpipe which we anticipate to be the most popular choice. • Available now - Vauxhall Corsa E 1.4 Turbo Sport Exhausts

Vauxhall Corsa E 1.4 Turbo Cobra Sport ExhaustBuilding on the success of the recent Cobra Sport exhaust systems for the Vauxhall Corsa E VXR, the Cobra Sport team have created a range of exhaust systems to improve the looks, performance and sound of the sporty Corsa E 1.4 Turbo.

The new 2.5” (63.5mm) stainless steel performance exhaust systems for the Corsa E 1.4 Turbo create the vibrant pitch perfect sound that Cobra Sport systems have become widely known for. The resonated cat back system has an increased sound level of +21db and for those looking for the most dynamic sound, the Venom cat back system increases levels by +25db recording 79db during the stationary 4,000rpm sound test. Interior sound levels have remained similar to the OEM system with both cat back systems adding +3db to the highest in cabin reading with the road tests recording a maximum figure of 79db under full load.

The Cobra Sports exhaust systems for the Corsa E 1.4 Turbo are now available in a choice of cat back configurations to suit your chosen looks and sound. The new systems are all manufactured in 2.5” (63.5mm) T304 stainless steel with mandrel bent pipework and are available as a resonated cat back or a louder Venom cat back system. The Venom system removes the rear silencer for improved tone and increased sound levels. The resonated cat back exhaust system gives an impressive 18% weight saving over the OEM system weighing in at only 12.26kg. To complement the styling of the Corsa E 1.4 Turbo, the stainless steel exhausts are finished in a choice of highly polished T304 stainless steel tailpipe styles ranging from 3.5” to 4.5” in diameter.

Matt Thomas, Sales Manager at Cobra Sport says “Improving the sound over the quiet OEM system was top of the agenda during the development process. By creating a true cat back system for the Corsa we have created a system with a much deeper tone and have subtly increased the sound levels to give the car the sporty sound track it deserves”.

  • Available Now - Ford Focus RS MK3 2016> Performance Exhausts

Ford Focus RS (MK3) Sports ExhaustThe new Focus RS is a car we were keen to get into the workshop as soon as the preliminary details were released last year and are thrilled to have now completed development work so soon after the release date. The Cobra Sport development team have created a full range of exhaust systems to take the RS to the next level through precision design and technology, allowing for increases in power and creating a sound track worthy of the future classic RS. The mandrel bent T304 Stainless Steel pipework has been designed to give the engine maximum room to breathe. The new Cobra Sport systems produce a much deeper exhaust tone than standard which becomes highly aggressive under load to produce a pitch perfect soundtrack along with the trademark gargles, crackles and pops expected from the Focus RS.

The 2016 Focus RS features an all-wheel drive system with dynamic torque vectoring control matched with the new 2.3-Litre EcoBoost engine producing over 350 PS which also appears in the new Mustang. The EcoBoost engine is fitted with a twin-scroll turbo matched with uprated air intake components. We identified a number of limitations with the standard Focus RS exhaust system and have looking to smooth the pipework to give the engine maximum room to breathe. As standard the exhaust emits a more subtle than expected tone which we have improved upon with all system configurations.

The Cobra Sport systems deliver a significant weight saving over standard. Testing of the non resonated turbo back system with de-cat resulted in a 13% reduction in weight over the OE system’s 24.3kg. On offer are a full range of configuration options including a cat-back exhaust system along with de-cat & sports cat front sections to form a full turbo back replacement. Taking development for the RS a step further, Cobra Sport have created a Venom exhaust system (with resonated centre) which produces a completely unique sound track. This system matched with the OE standard catalyst recorded the highest sound levels in our tests registering 101.5db (+22.8db) on the 4,000rpm static test.

The Cobra Sport development team have produced both valved and non valved systems. The valued systems are designed with the valve housing welded directly into the system allowing the use of the OE motors through the direct electrical connection. All systems are available with the active valve removed creating a more intense, constant sound and power upgrade. These systems include a specialised housing plate which will allow the valve motors to remain connected to the vehicle electronics but not form part of the exhaust, therefore allowing the use of all drive modes.

Matt Thomas, Sales Manager at Cobra Sport says “The many system configuration have a unique blend of sound and tone characteristics. The most dynamic upgrade was the full non resonated turbo back with de-cat which completely altered the sound of the car. At Idle this system only increased the decibel level by +12.5db but once under load the system comes to life, producing a pitch perfect tone at a level of 100db (+21.3db) to match the aggressive RS styling. The dual tailpipes sit neatly with the stylish rear diffuser. We were keen to make the most of the dual exit design and are excited to offer a choice of bold 4.5" (114.5mm) highly polished slash cut stainless steel tailpipes”.

  • Available Now - VW Polo GTI 1.8 TSI Performance Exhaust Systems

VW Polo GTI 1.8 TSI Sports Exhaust SystemsThe latest vehicle to pass through the Cobra Sport exhaust development process is the MK6 VW Polo GTI 1.8 TSI. Having previously achieved impressive results from the 1.4 Polo GTI we were keen to get the MK6 Polo GTI into the workshop to develop a new range of Cobra Sport performance exhausts.

The larger 1.8 litre engine in the new Polo GTI produces 190bhp as standard matched with an impressive 236 lb-ft of torque giving the lightweight (1272kg) Polo impressive performance figure on paper whilst creating an exhilarating drive. The 1.8 litre petrol engine is in essence a downsized version of the 2.0 litre TSI engine found in the Golf GTI. The engine shows hints of displaying a hard edged exhaust tone as standard, this is something we have taken much further to offer a deeper more vibrant pitch to the finished Polo GTI exhaust systems.

The new MK6 Polo has been a big hit with initial owners and journalists who rate the 1.8 litre TSI engine as a big improvement over the 1.4 TSI which laboured at the top end of the rev range. The move back to a manual 6 speed gearbox has also met approval thanks to the extra torque available over the optional 7-speed DSG gearbox.

The larger 1.8 litre engine in the new Polo GTI produces 190bhp as standard matched with an impressive 236 lb-‐ft of torque giving the lightweight Polo impressive performance figures on paper whilst creating an exhilarating drive. The Cobra Sport team were able to reduce the weight of the exhaust system by an impressive 41% over the OEM system with the resonated 2.5” cat back system weighing in at only 9.52kg compared to the original 16.20kg. The de-cat and sports cat front pipes have been enlarged to 3” bore and offer a weight saving of 0.60kg.

The new systems benefit from all of the usual Cobra Sport refinements with mandrel bent, TIG welded, grade 304 stainless steel used throughout the systems as standard. You can therefore be assured of only the best quality in a Cobra Sport system. Matt Thomas, Sales Manager at Cobra Sport says “The new MK6 Polo has been a big hit with initial owners and journalists who rate the naturally aspirated 1.8 litre engine as a big improvement over the previous 1.4 TSI. We are very excited to have developed a full range of exhaust systems to offer an upgrade to suit the wide range of buyer requirements. The new Cobra Sport systems greatly improve the exhaust pitch and tone and add the sporty edge which was missing from the factory system. The resonated cat back system offers the subtlest upgrade offering an increase of 10db over the standard system in the 4,000 rpm static test. The resonated cat back exhaust upgrade is designed to provide a purposeful but unobtrusive pitch perfect sound quality which in no way interferes with day-to‐day drivability”.

The styling of the system is finished off with a choice of twin 3” and 3.25” tailpipes in a highly polished T304 stainless steel finish. These options include a less obtrusive oval slash cut version which further compliments the VW aesthetics.

  • Cobra Sport unleash the Venom of the Astra J VXR

Vauxhall Astra J VXR Venom ExhaustCobra Sport have expanded on their range of performance exhausts for the Vauxhall Astra J VXR by creating a Venom exhaust system which features simplified rear pipework for the ultimate improvements in both sound and performance.

The OE system has been replaced with mandrel bent 3”/76.2mm bore T304 stainless steel pipework and is manufactured in Sheffield with beautifully bent pipework in place of the usual rear box to smooth gas flow and maximise possible performance gains. The simplified pipework of the Venom system has been designed to create an unrivalled deep sporty sound which will set the Astra J VXR ahead of the crowd. Sound testing of the finished Venom exhaust system when matched with additional first and second de-cat front pipes recorded an impressive 98db on the sound meter @ 4000rpm with a sound track which becomes highly aggressive under load.

As with the other Astra J VXR exhaust systems in the Cobra Sport range, the Venom system is finished with dual twin tailpipes which have been designed to subtly fit within the Astra’s built in stainless steel exhaust outlets. The system is manufactured with 3”/76.2mm pipework which splits to two 2.25”/50.8mm arms. The intricate pipework bends and resonated centre section of the Venom exhaust system maintain the necessary back pressure within the system.

Matt Thomas, Sales Manager at Cobra Sport offers his verdict on the Astra J VXR upgrade “Our new Venom exhaust is the ultimate upgrade for those looking for a quality of sound which beats any other system currently on the market. Following the success of our Venom exhausts for other vehicles in our range, we knew that the Venom system for the Astra J VXR would be a great match for the 2.0 turbocharged engine creating a sound which drew large crowds when demonstrated at the recent Performance Vauxhall Show”.

As always Cobra Sport are willing to back up their promises on quality, with a lifetime guarantee for customers who purchase the exhaust upgrade. Usual refinements include, hand finishing using advanced TIG welding techniques and all Grade 304 stainless pipework being formed expertly on CNC Mandrel bending machines, which ensures the smoothest of gas flow, with precision jig manufacturing to ensure a perfect fit.
