The Hyundai i30 N has cemented its place in the hot hatch market, standing out as a thrilling alternative to the Golf GTI and Focus ST. While many manufacturers are toning down their performance models, Hyundai continues to deliver excitement, aggression, and practicality. Now, Cobra Sport has taken things up a notch with its latest performance engineered exhaust systems for the i30 N.

Cobra Sport’s new offering includes a full cat back system designed to extract maximum power and sound from the i30 N. This setup features a 3-inch flex section and a GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) delete pipe. However, it’s important to note that the GPF delete option is not legal for road use in some territories and will not pass an MOT. For those looking to stay road-compliant, Cobra Sport recommends the GPF back system (pictured below).

The GPF back system includes a strategically placed rear back box silencer, ensuring full OEM valve functionality. With the valve open, the exhaust delivers a sharper, more aggressive sound, while closed it results in a deep, refined burble. Constructed from high-quality 3 inch (76.2mm) 304-grade stainless steel and fully TIG-welded in Sheffield, the system is built to last—backed by Cobra Sport’s lifetime warranty (registration required).
To complete the package, customers can choose from a selection of 4.5-inch tailpipes, including slash cut stainless steel Jap style, inverted or inward rolled tips. A premium carbon fibre variant is also available. Each option enhances the i30 N’s rear-end aesthetics, ensuring a striking presence on the road.

Beyond the looks and performance, the real highlight is the sound. The GPF back system delivers a refined yet aggressive tone, making it an ideal upgrade for daily drivers who want a sportier edge. For those seeking an even more exhilarating exhaust note, the addition of the GPF delete and flex section section (to form a cat back) provide an unrestricted roar, perfect for track use.
When hitting the road, the i30 N’s valve function dynamically adjusts based on throttle input. Under heavy acceleration, the exhaust note intensifies, creating an engaging driving experience. At cruising speeds, the valve closes, directing exhaust gases through the silencer for a deep but subdued tone - ensuring a balance between performance and practicality.

Cobra Sport’s latest exhaust system for the Hyundai i30 N offers an exciting blend of enhanced sound, improved performance, and high-quality craftsmanship. With both cat back and GPF back options available, there’s a setup to suit both road users and track enthusiasts.
