The Hyundai i20 N entered the market with high expectations, riding on the success of its larger sibling, the i30 N. Now, Cobra Sport has stepped in to enhance the i20 N's character even further with a range of exhaust system upgrades designed to bring out its full potential.

Competing with the likes of the Ford Fiesta ST and Volkswagen Polo GTI, the Hyundai carves out its own identity in the supermini hot hatch category. With its punchy performance and engaging driving experience, the i20 N delivers thrills, especially when pushed on winding B-roads. However, for those looking to amplify the experience, Cobra Sport’s latest exhaust options promise to take the sound and performance up a notch.

Cobra Sport's research and development team have created a variety of exhaust configurations to suit different needs. From a fully valved cat-back system with a 3” flex section upgrade to a unique Jap style GPF back for those seeking a full time increase in volume matched with stand out styling, there’s something for every i20 N enthusiast.

  • 3” Flex Section Upgrade: This component replaces the standard flex pipe, improving airflow and unlocking additional power, especially when tuning the engine.
  • GPF Delete Pipe: Designed strictly for motorsport and off-road use, this section eliminates the Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) restriction, maximising exhaust flow. Constructed from high-quality 304-grade stainless steel, this upgrade significantly boosts sound and performance but is not road legal.
  • GPF-Back System: Likely to be the most popular choice, this setup increases exhaust performance, volume and tone whilst keeping emissions-compliant components intact.

For this final option, Cobra Sport offers two variations:

  • A traditional rear silencer boxed setup that retains the factory valve system, allowing for tone adjustments via driving modes, completed by 3.5” (88.9mm) dual exhaust tips in a choice fo stainless steel and carbon fibre finish.
  • A Venon Jap style rear section, which includes a large round rear silencer and tip with an angled design that enhances the car’s aggressive aesthetic and sound, giving off true Korean Domestic Market (KDM) street vibes.

The GPF-back system with a boxed rear section maintains the stock valve functionality, allowing for subtle changes in exhaust note. For those opting to add the two middle centre sections for a cat-back system, the boxed setup is recommended to balance sound levels, particularly for track days. However, the Jap style rear section offers an edgier, more pronounced exhaust tone, making for a more exhilarating drive without being overpowering.

On the road, the Jap can exhaust delivers a deep and burbly tone that enhances the driving experience without being intrusive during everyday cruising. Under heavy acceleration, the system produces a throaty and aggressive sound, complementing the i20 N’s playful nature. It strikes a perfect balance between performance and drivability, making every drive more engaging.

Cobra Sport’s latest exhaust offerings provide Hyundai i20 N owners with a range of interchangeable options to tailor their car’s sound, looks and performance to their liking. Whether it’s a slight increase in volume or a full-on motorsport-inspired upgrade, there’s a setup to suit different driving styles and uses.
