Petrolheads all over the world have been thrilled by the latest generation Honda Civic Type R. The razor-sharp chassis and incredible 316BHP 2.0 Turbocharged K20C1 V-TEC engine make the FK8 Civic Type R one of the ultimate driver's hyper hatches. With 316BHP, the Type R can race from a standstill to 62MPH in just 5.7 seconds and it will out-accelerate its rivals, with a top speed of 169MPH.
However, the one aspect of the driving experience where the Civic Type R disappoints is its exhaust system, which is subdued from factory, and masks the true potential of the V-TEC engine.
Cobra Sport's all new performance exhaust range has been designed to enhance the driving experience of the Civic Type R, by developing a precision TIG-welded performance exhaust which not only adds performance but also unlocks a new level of sound to create a hyper hatch with an exhaust tone to match its extreme looks. Cobra Sport's research and development team were also able to increase the sound level by +16.5dB in non-resonated front flex back configuration.
This all-new performance exhaust features a unique rear silencer which utilises noise cancelling technology, and is engineered to enhance the unrivalled sound of the high revving V-TEC engine, whilst eliminating unwanted drone.
The turbocharged V-TEC engine is extremely capable making the Civic Type R a tuners dream. For those looking for the biggest upgrade in terms of performance, Cobra Sport have developed their full turbo back performance exhaust.
The turbo back system has been designed with a 4.5 in/114.3mm 200 cell high flow sports catalyst and is true 3in/76.2mm pipework throughout, maximising the flow rates and optimising tuning potential of the Japanese icon.
After equipping our development FK8 Civic Type R with Cobra Sport's all-new high flow sports cat turbo back performance exhaust, the Type R headed to Honda tuning specialists 'TDi North' where it produced 417BHP on the dyno when teamed with their specialist stage 2 remap.
Cobra Sport has also improved the styling of the Civic Type R creating a noticeably enhanced and balanced look to the rear of the Civic with a choice of triple 4in/101.6mm slash cut highly polished stainless-steel tailpipes. For those looking to take the style upgrade a stage further, upgraded carbon fibre tailpipes are available.
